An unidentified flying object in China has caused airplanes to temporarily be diverted away from a major airport. Shanghai Daily, a subscription only Internet news resource, reported that the UFO was spotted by multiple witnesses above a runway at Jiangbei International Airport in Chongqing, China on Wednesday, August 18, 2011.

Fortunately, the UFO disappeared after nearly an hour and air traffic at the busy airport was resumed without incident. According to Fox News, ". . . skeptical airport workers believe the object may have been a sky lantern or a large balloon."

This isn't the first time tha that unidentified flying object reports have interfered with China's airports. In 2010, a UFO was seen on radar at Xiaoshan airport in Hangzhou, China.

Last year's UFO sighting in Hangzhou was reportedly captured on video and made available on YouTube. So far, no one has come forward with any photos or footage of the unidentified flying object at Jiangbei International Airport
